Elderly Couple Stabbed, 1 Dead In Bushwick: PD

An elderly Bushwick woman died after she and her husband were stabbed inside their home, police said.

BUSHWICK, NJ — An elderly woman is dead after she and her husband were stabbed inside their Bushwick home over the weekend, police said.

Maria Rodriguez, 71, was pronounced dead at her Garden Street Home after she was stabbed multiple times in her torso Friday night, police said. Her 87-year-old husband was also injured in the attack; he was taken to Bellevue Hospital with slash wounds to his arms and a stab wound to the chest.

The couple was found by an in-law who crawled through a window Saturday evening, the New York Times reported.

Although no arrests have been made, police are looking to speak to the couple's son, Oscar Rodriguez, Jr., 55, the New York Times reported. The son checked himself into a hospital's psychiatric ward Saturday afternoon, police officials told the paper.
