You want local flavor? We got you!
Here's to food, culture and vibes in the neighborhood! For my fellow Bushwick residents and any others who wish to visit, I put together this roundup of five great local restaurants together in honor of our community. Although it's changing every day, we must NOT forget the greatness that places like these bring to our community, if only with the food that carries on our culture.

La Isla ChuchiFritos
Same owner for over four decades. It is home to many native Bushwick Latinos in the neighborhood. It's open 24/7. Great location to grab some food after a night out. Many who have tried their cuisine have said it is consistently delicious. The people there are very hospitable, they make you feel at home no matter what race you are. The drinks are very flavorful. The passion fruit juice and lemonade are both on point and the most popular. If you ever get sick, their soups are great to take care of that cold you've been fighting. CASH ONLY

Home to many Brooklyn natives. Flavorful food complimented by good, affordable customer service and great portions. You can also order online — so it's just a few clicks away. The tacos are huge and full with flavor.
Marthitas Bar & Grill
Marthitas Bar & Grill is very popular among the Latin community. Great happy hour specials, with hookah included. Definitely a place where you’ll find yourself eating, drinking, dancing and of course passing around some Hookah!!

Chimu Express
One of the top places people love going to in Bushwick for some authentic Peruvian Food. Lots of savoring dishes right around the corner from you. This spot opens at 4 p.m., just in time for a late lunch or early dinner. Reservations are recommended on the weekends due to high volume.

Sally Roots
Feedback from local Bushwick residents is that the drinks are good, and so is the mac 'n' cheese. The wings are nice and crunchy but tender on the inside. Great place for brunch and for after-work drinks. In the summer, they open their backyard for people to enjoy drinks outside and just vibe and mingle with other locals.
