No Goat Yoga For Brooklyn, Organizers Say

Goat Yoga classes were slated to start on Tuesday, but the Health Department put a ki-baaa-sh on the project.

BUSHWICK, BROOKLYN — No goat yoga for you.

Bushwick will not get its goat yoga after the Health Department nixed the pop-up class slated to open in Brooklyn on Tuesday, organizers said.

“We feel that the concept of goat yoga is just not possible within the laws of the city at this time,” NY Goat Yoga wrote in a statement on its website.

“The classes would be a disappointment to our customers and would not be anything remotely close to a goat yoga experience. "

The organizers, based at Gilbertsville Farmhouse in upstate New York, cancelled their months-long program the day before classes were slated to start at Up Studio on Ingram Street.

The goat yoga enthusiasts reported that the Health Department — which requires permits for any commercial venture that involves animals — was “intrigued and receptive to the idea,” but ultimately unable to meet NY Goat Yoga’s April deadline.

“We've been very confused by them,” the owner of the Ingram Street studio told Bushwick Daily.

"The goat yoga people never booked our space at all… We were wondering what tomorrow was going to be like.”
