Nowadays Beer Garden Raises $50K For Indoor Dance Space, But Still Needs Speakers
The owners of NYC's best beer garden, the same guys who founded Mister Sunday, are hoping the public will fund a new $50,000 sound system.

RIDGEWOOD, QUEENS — The NYC party pioneers behind the Mister Saturday Night and Mister Sunday dance parties and the Nowadays outdoor beer garden at Cooper and Wyckoff avenues managed to raise more than $50,000 on Kickstarter in just nine days — meaning their dream to open an indoor dance space can finally become reality.
They're still hoping, however, to raise $50,000 more for a sound system worthy of their dream venue.
Nowadays' crowdfunding campaign began on March 8, with the initial goal of ensuring the indoor venue could meet all legal and safety requirements.

From here, the same Kickstarter page will remain active for another 18 days, with a final goal of raising $100,000 — which seems highly likely, considering the outpouring of support so far.
"The next goal is to install a sound system that will make the indoors at Nowadays the best sounding and feeling room in New York," reads an update on their Kickstarter page. The plan is to install two state-of-the-art sound systems in the indoor venue: one hi-fi sound system designed for listening, and one to shower the dance floor with groovy beats.

The Nowadays team is confident they can reach the second goal with the help of the "Mister" community they've been building over the past decade.
"We think the best way for us to get there is to encourage people to join us for the opening party," they said on Kickstarter. "If we get enough backers to claim all the rest of the opening night rewards, we'll blow our new goal out of the water. We don't think that should be hard."
