Opera To Be Performed In Former Bushwick Bus Depot
LoftOpera is performing Leoncavallo's "Pagliacci" starting next month, part of its mission to bring opera to the masses.
BUSHWICK, BROOKLYN - Opera, apparently, was first performed for the masses out in the open. So a former bus depot could be seen as a logical choice to stage a 19th-century Italian work.
LoftOpera is performing Leoncavallo’s "Pagliacci" at 198 Randolph St. in Bushwick, where buses used to come and go. The run of six shows starts on Sept. 15, as Playbill first reported.
The story of clowns and murder will unfold on a set with a Coney Island theme. LoftOpera is throwing a party for attendees after each show.
