Veg Out At This Vegan Food Fest Fundraiser In Bushwick
Try some of NYC's best vegan food and learn about the perks of a plant-based diet at the May 6 fundraiser for The Catskill Animal Sanctuary.

BUSHWICK, QUEENS -- Snack on some of New York City's tastiest cruelty-free cuisine for a good cause at a vegan food fest fundraiser in Brooklyn this weekend.
The (Plant Powered) Vegan Food Fest Fundraiser will take over the Mayday Space at 176 St. Nicholas Ave. on Sunday to raise money for the Catskill Animal Sanctuary.
The event from 12:30 - 4:30 p.m. will feature foods from NYC's finest vegan eateries, educational seminars on the benefits of a plant-based diet with vegan athlete Marc wood, a contest judging the best vegan cupcake and more, according to the event website.

The food fest will start off at 12:30 p.m. with a demonstration from Pastry Chef "Emily Cakeboss" on how to make jack fruit "pulled pork" complete with a sampling of the dish. Workshops to follow include demos for making no-bake cheesecake and summer rolls, and growing your own sprouts at home.
Marc Wood, a triathlete and coach, will take the stage at 1:45 p.m. with personal trainer Jaime Robinson to talk about the health benefits of a plant-based diet and do a Q&A with the audience. He will stay onstage to judge the VFF Vegan Cupcake Contest with Emily Cakeboss and pastry chef Tere Fox.

The event will also feature a talk from vegan comedian and physical therapy doctor Russ L'HommeDieu, a live DJ, more than 20 cruelty-free vendors, a raffle and a silent auction.
All proceeds go to Catskill Animal Sanctuary, a farm rescue organization located around two hours north of NYC in Saugerties, New York. Event organizer Stacie Pierce will wrap up presentations at the festival with her own story about volunteering with the sanctuary.
Buy tickets to the food fest online in advance for $10 or at the door for $15.
