This Is The Worst Discount Grocery Store In NYC

NEW YORK CITY — The votes are in and we have a winner for the worst discount grocery store in New York City.

Patch asked you to decide which of four contenders — Trader Joe’s, Fairway Market, Food Bazaar or Costco — was the most horrifically stocked and overrated grocery store in all the five boroughs.

Patch readers from across the city submitted responses and one store stood out to snag the title with a staggering 50 percent of the vote.

“If your [sic] a dinosaur then this is the perfect place to shop,” one Patch reader said of our winner, Food Bazaar. “They haven’t evolved yet…. Do not go there!!”

“Their vegetables are old looking and the tomatoes are unintentionally green,” the voter added. “The cucumbers always look hurt and overall they are out of touch with times we are living in.”

Fairway came in second with 22 percent of the vote, Costco came in third with 17 percent and Trader Joe’s snagged just 11 percent.

This victory means Food Bazaar will face off against Dean & Deluca — which you named the worst pricey grocery store last week — in Patch's contest to name the worst grocery store in all of the city.

We'll hold two more subcategory contests (worst chain grocery store and worst online grocery store), then pit the winners against each other for the chance to win the title of Worst Grocery store in NYC.
