On Saturday, Jan. 22 at 2:20 p.m. at the corner of Douglass and Hoyt streets a 49-year-old woman was on her way to C-Town when she was stopped by another woman, asking for money. Cops said she gave the woman two quarters and started to walk away when the woman jumped on her back and tried to grab two envelopes out of her hands. The thief got away with the envelopes, one of which contained $200 in cash. Luckily for the victim, two female witnesses followed the thief, saw her drop a $50 bill and called the police.
Nakia Shaw, 29, was arrested at 5:15 p.m. by Officer Powell. She was charged with robbery and criminal impersonation of another person.
