'Amity Wiggle' Bike Lane Back Before Community Board 6
The city wants to add a bike lane across Court Street connecting Amity and Dean.

COBBLE HILL, BROOKLYN — On Thursday, Community Board 6 will hear the latest version of the Department of Transportation's plan for how to send bikers safety across Court Street from Amity Street to Dean Street.
The first version of the so-called "Amity Wiggle" was proposed to the board last year, as covered by StreetsBlog. Among its elements: the city proposed adding a bike lane stretching diagonally from Amity to Dean (the eastbound streets currently are not connected by a bike lane, though cyclists commonly ride across Court at the intersection anyway), as well as adding a new crosswalk on Court north of the intersection.

The city also said it would add new signage to the street to help pedestrians and bikers share the road:

However, CB 6 district manager Craig Hammerman said that last year, some community board members had concerns about the design — for example, how best to handle bikers riding against traffic on Court, as the pitch called for.
The DOT will present its latest version of the plan at the Feb. 16 meeting of CB 6's transportation committee. The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. at 250 Baltic St.
You can read the DOT's original "Amity Wiggle" proposal on the agency's website.
