An Almond Cookie

Sometimes that's all it takes

New Year's Day was punctuated by a light and crumbly U-shaped almond cookie from Mazzola's.

After a night of revelry, a delicious, sugary something is surely desired (and required) the next day. I found that something at Mazzola's, which is not surprising.

I often don't like cookies because their texture can be flaky and, for lack of a better word, dry. But there are times when something on the dry side actually serves a purpose, in this case absorbing excess liquids in the body (left over from New Year's Eve....)

This cookie actually melted in my mouth a bit, and the sliced and toasted almonds on top gave the exterior added crunch.

It was warm yesterday. It was so pleasurable, sitting on a bench outside Mazzola's, in the light of the gray day, eating a cookie.
