Average Rent for a Brooklyn Studio Is Now $2,380 Per Month
Report: The rent is too damn high.

Thursday morning’s big news in Brooklyn really isn’t news at all: Rent has risen to even more ridiculous heights than at this time last year.
Douglas Elliman Real Estate has been tracking average housing prices throughout New York since 2008. Here are some of the more staggering figures from the most recent Elliman Report, based on numbers from June:

- The average rental price in Brooklyn is now $3,252. (Up from $3,176 last year.)
- Brooklynites are paying, on average, about $41 per square foot for their apartments.
- Studio renters are getting an even bigger ripoff — almost $49 per square foot.
- Speaking of studio apartments, the average Brooklyn studio is now going for $2,379 per month.
- The margin between Manhattan rents and Brooklyn rents is shrinking — fast. In fact, Manhattan rents, on average, are actually lower than last year.
