Back-to-Back NEC Titles for St. Francis Brooklyn Men's Soccer
For the 2nd consecutive year, the Terrier's Andy Cormack strikes gold in overtime to give SFC a 2-1 win over St. Francis, PA

Andy Cormack certainly has a flair for the dramatic. For the second consecutive year, the St. Francis defender struck for a golden goal in the Northeast Conference Men’s Soccer Championship. Cormack, from Plymouth, England, connected on a free kick in the 94th match to lift his team to 2-1 win over host St. Francis, PA in the 2014 NEC Championship, giving the Terriers’ back-to-back titles and a second straight trip to the NCAA Men’s College Cup.
The championship win is the program’s sixth, leaving St. Francis trailing only NEC rival Farleigh Dickinson, which has seven titles.
As reported by St. Francis Brooklyn athletics, Cormack was understandably elated.

“I had an idea that I was going to put the ball around the wall but the keeper didn’t go all of the way back so I took the space that was given to me,” Cormack described. “Compared to last year it was a bit more difficult because the angle wasn’t on my side. Last year I had a bit more space.”
St. Francis Coach Tom Giovatto spoke to SFC Athletics about his team’s stellar performance, in particular junior goalie Jack Binks and senior co-captain Cormack.

“It’s a great feeling to win today,” said the Terriers’ head coach. “Saint Francis was excellent today and they gave us a hard time for the entire game. We kept our shape defensively and didn’t allow them to really penetrate. When they did, Jack [Binks] was there to make the saves.
We knew that if we kept it close we would have a chance to capitalize on a set piece and Andy [Cormack] did it again for us. He’s one of the greatest captains in school history. On and off the field, he is one of the biggest reasons why the program has really changed.”
The Terriers will now await the outcome of seeding for the NCAA tournament. The NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Announcement will air on Monday, November 17th at 1:00 pm ET on NCAA.com.
