Boerum Hill School Evacuated As FDNY Investigates Odor

BOERUM HILL, BROOKLYN — A high school on Schermerhorn Street was evacuated Thursday afternoon as fire officials investigate an odor inside the building, FDNY said.

FDNY was called to Khalil Gibran International Academy at 362 Schermerhorn Street just before 1 p.m. for reports of an odor inside. By 1:30 p.m., the building had been evacuated and firefighters were still on scene investigating, an FDNY spokesman said.

The spokesman said that nobody had been taken to the hospital because of the incident. Details about any other injuries were not immediately available.

Khalil Gibran is a public New York City high school that falls just on the border between Fort Greene and Boerum Hill near the corner of Flatbush and Lafayette Avenue.
