Cobble Hill's Beloved 'BookCourt' Is Selling Its Bookshelves on Craiglist
The bookstore is set to close on Dec. 31. Now, you can bring a piece of it home with you.

COBBLE HILL, BROOKLYN — Devoted customers of Cobble Hill's outgoing community bookstore BookCourt can now bring a piece of the bookstore home with them. The shop will be closing on Dec. 31 after more than 35 years in operation, owners Henry M. Zook and Mary B. Gannett announced this month. And in anticipation of that, Brokelyn caught that the store has now posted its bookshelves for sale on Craigslist.
According to an ad currently posted online, BookCourt is selling more than 75 shelves of "various sizes," most of which are eight feet tall and four feet wide, with between seven and nine adjustable shelves per case.

The shelving features "Birch veneer over high quality composite" and is "Very strong, commercial grade," according to the add. The price is listed as $500, but the add says that's "negotiable depending on size and condition," though most shelves are "'like new.'"
If you are interested, you can call 917-570-0525 to set up a time to come by and take a look. The shelving will be available for pickup on Jan. 5.
