Brooklyn School for Collaborative Studies Unveils New College Office

Provided by Capital One and The Heart of America Foundation

Last Wednesday, September 10, the Brooklyn School for Collaborative Studies (BCS) in Carroll Gardens unveiled their brand new College Office. With over 400 books, an interactive Smart Board, and 15 Chromebooks, the totally transformed office will serve as a vibrant learning center with new reading materials and college access materials for students. The day of the unveiling, approximately 40 volunteers from Capital One worked to complete the office makeover, in addition to teaching financial literacy classes to the students.

Capital One and The Heart of America Foundation’s READesign® team have partnered to provide three College Offices for the New York City Outward Bound Schools’ network of schools. Led by college counselor Josh Steckel, BCS is well-known for having one of the most powerful and effective college access programs in the city for low-income, first-generation-to-college students.
