ICYMI: 'Brooklyn's Smallest Bar' Opens In Carroll Gardens With Cocktail Focus
The bar is an offshoot of Black Mountain Wine House.

CARROLL GARDENS, BROOKLYN — When you walk into Little Mountain Cocktails, a recently opened Carroll Gardens bar, it's not hard to see why it bills itself as "Brooklyn's Smallest Bar."
The 18-seat establishment, nestled into a sleepy Sackett Street block in the neighborhood, won't be mistaken for any of the nearby Smith Street bars that can attract big, rowdy Friday night crowds.
Its manager, though, hopes that a focus on craft cocktails will make it a successful spot in the neighborhood.

"We put a focus on classic craft cocktails," Matt Hosick tells Patch on a recent trip inside. "We've got an easy-going atmosphere, and it's not too expensive."

Are you a business that's new to the neighborhood or on its way? We'd love to hear from you.

The bar is an offshoot of Black Mountain Wine House around the corner. It used to be PDQ, which was under the same ownership and served coffee during the day.
The bear head and hacksaws hanging on the walls, along with the faux-fireplace and cozy space, give the recently re-opened with a more cabin-y feel.
And the cocktails are the main attraction.
Hosick, a life-time bartender who lives with his wife down the street, plans to make in-house drams, bitters and infusions seasonally. The menu, which will change four times a year, consists largely of twists on classic cocktails.
Hosick is also planning on making an alcoholic ginger beer and a hibiscus spritzer with house-made lemon bitters for the summer. While there isn't food options now, he's working on adding some small bites eventually.
And in the mean time, he's happy to keep the "smallest bar" designation.
"I believe we are. I think that we are," he says. "I can’t think of many other places in Brooklyn. I guess if anyone wants to challenge us, the title is up for grabs."
The bar is located at 359 Sackett St. near Smith Street. You can check out their menu below. (Click to make it bigger.)
