Carroll Gardens Eatery Is One Of Go-To Spots Of 2019, Eater Says
Wingbar on Smith Street got a shout-out in the food experts' "Top Restaurant Standbys" of the year.
CARROLL GARDENS, BROOKLYN — A Carroll Gardens bar was one of the top go-to spots for food this year, according to a round-up by Eater.
Wingbar at 275 Smith St. got a shout-out in the food outlet's "Top Restaurant Standbys of 2019" list, put out on Thursday.
The bar was praised as a perfect option for "Sunday hangover wings and cheap pitchers" by Amanda Mull, a staff writer at The Atlantic and one of about 20 Eater staff or "friends of Eater" that the outlet asked to rank their regular favorites.

Mull also doesn't seem to be the only one to sing the Smith Street bar's praises. The eatery — which boasts a family recipe for its wing sauce dating back to 1986 — has five stars on Seamless.
"We use wings that aren't too big or too small," the restaurant said on its website. "We fry them to perfection then toss them in our sauce from our family recipe dating back to 1986."

The Atlantic writer's other top picks included Barboncino Pizza in Crown Heights, which she said is a great spot for "neighborhood dinners," and Chuko Ramen in Prospect Heights for "delivery splurges."
The borough's eats also got a shout-out from Eater Editor in Chief Amanda Kludt, who said she often ended up at Prospect Heights wine bar LaLou and Fulton Street American eatery Otway.
Italian restaurant Fausto, Bed-Stuy Caribbean spot A&A Bake Doubles and Roti and Greenpoint Polish joint Karczma also made the round-up.
The list is part of Eater's annual ritual of looking back on the year with some the city's top food writers. It is one of several questions the food outlet asked the group of food critics that will be published during the final week of the year.
