Carroll Gardens Teacher Sues City After Firing: Report

A third-grade teacher at Brooklyn New School said she was unfairly fired for not disclosing an arrest.

CARROLL GARDENS, BROOKLYN — A former teacher at a Carroll Gardens school is suing the city, saying she was unfairly fired for failing to disclose an arrest, according to the New York Post.

Crystal Alleyne, who taught third grade at the Brooklyn New School, is asking to be reinstated because she said her arrest for domestic violence was dismissed, the Post reported.

She was arrested in April 2016 for an unspecified incident, the Post reported.

Alleyne said she tried to alert her supervisor after she was arrested but she couldn't reach them, the Post reported, citing her lawsuit.

She then went on a camping trip with the school, and after she told her supervisor when she got back, she was fired, according to the Post.
