Carroll Gardens Wine Vendor 'Smith & Vine' Moving This January
But don't worry! You'll just have to walk two blocks to get your vino.

CARROLL GARDENS, BROOKLYN — Local wine seller Smith & Vine will be moving its store two blocks south to 317 Smith St. this January.
Manager Kamar Gomez said New Year's Eve will be the store's last day in its current location at 268 Smith St., where it's been for a decade. The building is up for sale, Gomez said, explaining that Smith & Vine's owner wanted to lock down a new lease rather than risk an uncertain future.
The move will take a few days, but Smith & Vine hopes to be back in the wine selling business by Wednesday, Jan. 4, he said.

"It was super important for our owners to stay on Smith Street, with all the flux that's been happening up and down," Gomez said, referring to the street's high turnover rate, which has led to some dire predictions about its future.
But Gomez, who said he's worked at Smith & Vine for nine years, said that while he's seen new customers recently, the business remains one catered to by locals. And he cited new area businesses, like the recently opened Sunken Hundred, as evidence that Smith is still vibrant.

Smith & Vine's new location will retain its current selection and hours, Gomez said: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, and 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday.
