Citi Bike Docking Station Study Still Underway, District Manager Says
CB 6 says it will send a report to the Department of Transportation asking it to move a list of Citi Bike docking stations.

BOCOCA, BROOKLYN — Community Board 6 is still working to produce a list of Citi Bike docking stations it wants the Department of Transportation (DOT) to move, district manager Craig Hammerman said Wednesday.
Last October, CB 6 hosted a packed and passionate meeting where residents from the communities the board represents — Park Slope, Gowanus, Red Hook, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Boerum Hill and Columbia Waterfront — offered their opinions on, and suggested changes to, the bike sharing program.

Statistics from the DOT stated that as of Oct. 10, 2016, 8,000 CB 6 residents had an annual Citi Bike membership, while 2,700 had bought a membership to the program over the previous three months.
But many locals stridently objected to some of the docking stations that popped up in their neighborhoods last year. In response, CB 6 said it would collect and evaluate complaints and send a report to DOT asking the agency to move a listed group of stations.

Hammerman said Wednesday that he had hoped to finish the report by the end of January, but the board was too busy with other work. He said he couldn't provide an estimate of when the report will be done, but that it will be finished as soon as possible.
CB 6 voted last June to support Citi Bike's expansion of the bike sharing program into its communities, but chair Sayar Lonial has stressed that the board always expected to be able to question the location of docking stations.
Two Park Slope stations were moved by the DOT last fall, thought that was done independently of CB 6's station review, according to the agency.
