Cobble Hill Is A Top Neighborhood For Summer Fun, Study Shows
Outdoor eating spots and plenty of Citi Bikes put Cobble Hill/Brooklyn Heights in the top five best NYC neighborhoods for "summertime fun."

COBBLE HILL, BROOKLYN — Cobble Hill is one of the city's top five neighborhoods for having fun in the summertime, a new study shows.
A RentHop analysis of New York City neighborhoods' parks, outdoor eateries, Citi Bike stations landed Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill, which were grouped in the study, in a tie for second place on a list of the top ten "summertime fun" spots.
Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill were given a 91 out of 100, as was the grouping of SoHo, Tribeca and Little Italy in Manhattan. The neighborhoods were only surpassed by Manhattan's West Village, which racked up a perfect 100.

The study looked at various factors that "make a summer day awesome, and not-so-awesome," including how much of the neighborhood is covered in parkland, how many trees line the streets and even how many 311 dog poop complaints were called in to the city.
Brooklyn Heights-Cobble Hill had its highest rankings in the outdoor eating and Citi Bike categories. The neighborhoods have nearly 31 Citi Bike stations, 11.17 sidewalk cafes and 8.38 rooftop bars per square mile, the study found.

The bike station ranking likely is what gave the neighborhood its edge on the list. It was one of the highest in the city, surpassing even the top-earning West Village.
For sidewalk cafes and rooftop bars, though, New Yorkers are probably better off heading into Manhattan. The West Village had more than ten times the number of sidewalk cafes as Brooklyn Heights-Cobble Hill with 153 outdoor spots and Midtown-Midtown South took the title of the most rooftop bars with 39 per square mile.
Some of Brooklyn Heights-Cobble Hill's other scores include that about 10 percent of the neighborhoods are covered in parks and there are nearly five street trees for every 1,000 square miles, the study found.
