Custom Dress Fittings This Friday at Papél New York
The Cobble Hill paperie will be the first site of Brooklyn designer Elsa and Me's traveling Friday Fittings series.
There's nothing like being told, "That dress fits you like a glove." What woman doesn't dream of owning a frock that flatters every curve?
Tomorrow, South Brooklyn beauties can indulge their bespoke fantasies at a special "Friday Fittings" fashion event hosted by Papél in Cobble Hill. For one day, the paperie will showcase Elsa and Me's eponymous ELSA dress in two versions—3/4 sleeve or sleeveless—for women to try on and, if desired, have tailored to fit.
"All standard sizes will be available at the shop for people to try on from 12 to 6 p.m.," explains Elsa and Me designer Maja Svensson. "The dress fits most people off the rack, but it is also possible to get measured for a custom-made dress."

For the latter, Svensson will be available from 4 to 6 p.m. Delivery time will take approximately four weeks.
Handmade in New York City with organic cotton fabric in colors like Dusty Black, Vanilla White, Sunny Wheat, Sweet Potato and Hibiscus, the line was inspired by Svensson's grandmother. The ELSA ($260-$280) is meant to be simple and sleek enough to transition from office to evening plans effortlessly.

And why is a paper goods store hosting this pop-up fashion event?
"I lived in the area up until last Sunday, for approximately two and a half years," says Svensson, who became friendly with Papél's owner Raegan Hirvela after frequently purchasing gifts and birthday cards at the shop.
In fact, both Hirvela and Michelle Mannix of Ted & Honey are featured in the label's recent Women in ELSA campaign [pictured in the above gallery and viewable here].
"It was a nice communal treat to showcase inspiring entrepreneurial Cobble Hill ladies in the ELSA dress," says Svensson.
Who knows, perhaps the next campaign will feature a lady from Carroll Gardens or Boerum Hill. Try one on at the Friday Fittings event and see how it feels.
