Diego May Not Be Open in Time for New Year's Eve

At the beginning of the month we reported the  on Smith and Union streets would be , an upscale Mexican restaurant with a menu designed by Ivy Stark.

The article also reported the restaurant was slated to open on New Year's Eve. At one point a phone number for reservations was posted in the window.

A follow up with owner James Geritano revealed that things may not be progressing as planned -- Diego may not be open before 2011.

"It's more no than yes," he said. "If everything is not perfect than it's no."

Perfection is certainly a goal to aspire to, but it's rarely attainable, right?
