Dryer Fire!

60 firefighters responded to a fire in a Columbia Street apartment

A fire broke out just before 11 a.m. in an apartment on Columbia Street Friday morning, the Fire Department said.

Residents of the third floor apartment at 151 Columbia Street said it was a dryer that was on fire.

"I saw the flames inside the dryer, spinning around, and I screamed," said Julie Pecoraro, whose sister lives in the apartment. "It smelled like burning."
