Future Of Carroll Park Open For Discussion Next Week
The parks department will host an event next week for people to share their ideas about the future of Carroll Park.

CARROLL GARDENS, BROOKLYN — Residents can help decide the future of Carroll Park during a session with the city's parks department next week.
The event, hosted at The Carroll School on Smith Street, will give residents the chance to offer ideas about the park's future. It will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26 in the school's cafeteria.
The nearly two-acre park is one of the oldest parks in Brooklyn and includes an asphalt yard with basketball rims, a baseball or kickball diamond, a spray shower for younger kids and a shady area with public bathrooms and seating, according to the parks website.

"Whether you're buying fresh groceries, taking in a Shakespearean work, or giving the kids a place to run, historic Carroll Park is the perfect destination," the website says.
It was founded in the late 1840s and named after Charles Carroll, an American Revolutionary leader and signer of the Declaration of Independence. Carroll served in the Continental Congress from 1776 to 1778 and represented Maryland in the Senate from 1789 to 1792.
