CARROLL GARDENS, NY — A shop that sells handmade bags and purses along with jewelry and home goods plans to shutter their Smith Street shop after 21-years in business, owners announced.

Refinery, which opened in Carroll Gardens in 1997, announced that they would close their 283 Smith St. storefront at the end of the month to switch their focus to their Massachusetts location and an upcoming Etsy shop, according to a notice posted on their website.

Refinery was opened by Suzanne Bagdade to sell her purses, totes and bags made with reclaimed fabrics — like ties — and leather, according to New York Magazine. The store originally occupied a smaller space a few doors down on Smith Street but relocated to their current location several years ago, Pardon Me For Asking reported.
