Knife-Wielding Carroll Gardens Thief Targets Food Deliverymen
Police are looking for a man who orders takeout from local restaurants and then steals hundreds from their deliverymen at knifepoint.
CARROLL GARDENS, BROOKLYN — Police are looking for a man who went on a crime spree last month, including a scheme where he stole more than $400 by robbing local restaurant deliverymen.
In two of the three incidents, one on March 9 and another on March 22, an unknown person called a nearby restaurant to order for delivery. But in both incidents, when the deliverymen arrived, the suspect was waiting for them with a knife demanding money.
The March 9 robbery, just before midnight, the man had food delivered to 139 Luquer Street. He displayed the knife to the 38-year-old deliveryman when he got there and took about $200 in cash before running away on Luquer Street, police said.

In the March 22 robbery, the food was delivered to 74 4th Place around 2:25 p.m., police said. That time, the man put a knife to the 28-year-old deliveryman's chest and took $250 in cash before fleeing on a kick scooter on 4th Place.
The man is also wanted for a third incident earlier that day. Just hours before stealing from the deliveryman, the same suspect broke into a 33-year-old woman's apartment near 4th Place and Clinton Street around noon through her fire escape window. When he got inside, the man stole her keys, a ceramic bowl, a Bluetooth speaker and $4 in coins, police said.

Police did not specify which restaurants the man targeted. They described him as being about 18 to 25 years old, standing 5'11" to 6'0" and said he was last seen wearing a black hooded sweater, dark colored sweatpants and black sneakers.
