Man Arrested For Fatal Boerum Hill Shooting, Police Say
Robert Flippen was charged with murder for gunning down Laquan Surles because of a fight over a woman, police said.

BOERUM HILL, NY — A man was arrested for fatally shooting a person on a Boerum Hill street over the weekend because of a fight over a woman, police said.
Robert Flippen, 48, of Boerum Hill, was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon on Sunday for the killing Laquan Surles, the NYPD said.
Police responded to a 911 call of a person shot at Third Avenue and State Street on Saturday and found Surles, 39, of Downtown Brooklyn, shot several times in the torso. Surles was taken to Brooklyn Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Flippen, who lives in a high-rise blocks away from where Surles was found, was arrested on Sunday night for the murder. He was previously arrested four times, police said.
