BOERUM HILL, BROOKLYN — A would-be thief slashed a man in the face when he refused to give up his cell phone on the subway in Brooklyn, police said.

The thief came up to the 31-year-old man while he was sitting on a southbound B train near the Pacific Street-Atlantic Avenue station around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and tried to take his phone out of his hand, police said.

The straphanger was able to hold onto the phone, but the would-be thief then took out a straight razor and slashed him across the face, police said. The thief then ran away.

The man got several stitches at New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital for the cut, police said.
