Moo Burger Reopens After Fire
"The neighborhood has been tremendous, very supportive, they're like family for us."

COBBLE HILL, BROOKLYN — Moo Burger, a burger joint on the corner of Court and Blatic streets, is back open after a fire caused it to close its doors for more than two months.
The restaurant reopened Monday, and owner Nicholas Sakatis told Patch that it was a warm affair.
"It was like a hug fest here," he said Wednesday. "My customers and me we were hugging each other. We were just happy to see each other. I would never leave."

The blaze broke out around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, in the walls of the restaurant. It's a down time for the restaurant, and the only customer had just left when it started.

All told, the restaurant's doors were closed for about two-and-a-half months.
"I've seen kids who were this big at the beginning of the summer, and now they're this big," Sakatis told Patch, gesturing from the floor to the ceiling.
Since closing, Moo Burger has added some new menu options including nachos and "Moo wings."

He said neighbors kept checking by to see when the place would reopen. As it got closer to opening time, he shared the news with some of his biggest customers.
"The neighborhood has been tremendous, very supportive, they're like family for us," Sakatis told Patch. "It was a great homecoming. We needed that. This neighborhood was amazing."
Monday's opening wasn't just a big day for Sakatis, but the neighborhood, he said.
"Big thank you. I love Cobble Hill, and just a big thank you," he said. "We appreciate it, and I hope we will be here for years."
