COBBLE HILL, BROOKLYN — A new children's fitness center coming to Smith Street has announced that the gym will open next month.

The 209 Smith Street center will become the newest outpost of My Gym, a children's program with more than 500 locations across the globe that signed a lease for the 3,600-square-foot space in November. The spot used to be the home of Burger On Smith.

My Gym Cobble Hill owners said this week that the fitness center will officially be ready to open in July.

“We are very excited to be expanding to the Cobble Hill area and can’t wait to create a happy and healthy community of children and parents with our variety of fitness classes and activities for kids up to 10 years of age,” said Evan Wacht, owner and director of the new My Gym location. “We’re looking forward to the grand opening this summer and to welcoming families to come play and be active, meet our staff, check out the facilities, and explore all of the various age-appropriate programs we offer.”

The My Gym program is for children between 6 weeks and 10 years old and includes pre-gymnastics, games, music, rides, sports, puppet shows and other activities. The company says the programs are designed to help the kids develop cognitive skills, confidence, socialization, independence and the positive self-image needed for school.

Gym-goers who want to join the new Smith Street location can get a few special deals if they sign up before the grand opening, the company said.

The fitness chain already has a spot in Park Slope, which was the first to open in the borough in 2017. Wacht said other Brooklyn locations will be coming soon.

“This is the second location of many that we will be opening throughout Brooklyn," he said.
