Attempted Rapist Who Escaped Police In Boerum Hill Found

The 31-year-old ran away from officers with his hands still in cuffs on Saturday, police said.

BOERUM HILL, BROOKLYN — A man who escaped police custody on Saturday has been found and arrested, police said Monday.

Officers from the Department of Homeless Services Police were taking Jose Bisono-Torres, 31, from the courthouse on Schermerhorn Street to Brooklyn Central Booking just before 5:30 p.m. when he pulled away from their grasp, police said. Bisono-Torres fled from the two officers on foot toward Smith Street, with his handcuffs still on.

Officers were taking him into custody for an attempted rape at the homeless shelter where he lives in East New York, according to the New York Post. The Post said sources told them that Bisono-Torres is a career criminal with seven prior arrests including robbery, burglary and grand larceny.

Police released photos and surveillance video of Bisono-Torres over the weekend as they searched for him.

He was found on Monday and charged with escape around 9 p.m.

Police listed his address as a shelter in East New York on Blake Avenue. They did not provide details about why he was in police custody.
