Rally For Shore Power & More

It's the New Year, time to take part in local activities, take a stand on local issues and eat at that restaurant you've always wanted to try. Here's what to do this week.

Monday

Down in Red Hook join residents of the Columbia Waterfront District (or West Carroll Gardens) in . The rally is at noon. From the press release:

Switching to shore power -- so that ships can hook up to the electric grid instead of idling their engines in port -- would stop tons of unnecessary and life-threatening pollution, which is equal to thousands of cars idling.

Tuesday

We can't think of a better Tuesday night, welcome to the New Year, kind of event than  at Last Exit on Atlantic Avenue. The monthly listening and dance party features garage, beat, punk, psych, soul, ska, reggae, power-pop and rock 'n' roll sounds from the 1950s to the now.

Thursday
