Developer Buys Cobble Hill Property on Atlantic Ave. for $10.3 Million: Report

The space previously housed Brooklyn Tattoo.

COBBLE HILL, BROOKLYN — BFC Partners, the company behind the redevelopment of the Bedford-Union Armory, has purchased 292 Atlantic Ave. from Thor Equities for $10.3 million, according to a report in the Commercial Observer. BFC did not immediately respond Monday to a request for comment on the report.

The 292 Atlantic Ave. property currently hosts a vacant storefront (the former home of the St. Claire Diner) below a group of occupied apartments. It also includes 99 Smith St., the former home of Brooklyn Tattoo (which recently moved to 297 Smith St.) and art gallery Urban Folk Art, located at 101 Smith St.

Adam Suerte, the co-owner of both Brooklyn Tattoo and the gallery, said he moved the tattoo parlor because his ten year lease was up. However, the gallery has four years left on its lease, he said.

Suerte said he received a letter Friday announcing the building's change of ownership, but hasn't spoken to his new landlord.

In the meantime, Urban Folk Art is hosing a pop-up sale from now through Dec. 24 featuring items from the tattoo parlor, as well as work from Bad Girl Barware, Beloved Little Lamb, and other creators.

The pop-up shop is open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Suerte said he intends to keep the gallery open after its run concludes.
