Squadron: SUNY Sustainability Plan Must Include LICH

The Senator testimony on Monday insisted on a collaborative plan with legislative and Brooklyn community input.

At a meeting held on Monday to discuss the future sustainability plan for SUNY Downstate Medical Center, Sen. Daniel Squadron presented his own testimony urging the state to keep LICH alive and to form a collaborative work group.

"As nearly the entire Brooklyn delegation wrote last month," he reminded, "it's critical that any decision on LICH and Downstate's future includes community and legislative input."

These requests are particularly urgent as the state requires a plan by June 1.

A second hearing to discuss SUNY Downstate Hospital and Long Island College Hospital in regard to the sustainability plan will be held on Tuesday, June 4, at Van Buren Hearing Room A, Legislative Office Building, 2nd Floor, in Albany, New York, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. But oral testimony will be by invitation only.
