Tourist Sexually Assaulted, Robbed At Bergen Street Station: NYPD

A mugger groped the woman, threw her down the stairs and ran off with her purse, police said.

CARROLL GARDENS, NY — A mugger groped and robbed a woman as she exited the Bergen Street subway station in Brooklyn, police said Wednesday.

The 38-year-old woman, who was visiting the city from out of the country, was attack just before midnight Monday after taking the G train and exiting the subway station on the corner of Warren and Smith streets, authorities said.

The woman told police that a man grabbed her breasts and groin from behind, pushed her down the stairs and then snatched her purse. The subway pervert fled west on Warren Street toward Court Street. The victim refused medical attention, a police spokesman said.

Police describe the man between 18 and 25 years old. He made off with $200 and the woman's ID.
