UJA Supports Interest-free "Paycheck" Program Amid Gov't Shutdown
UJA and Hebrew Free Loan Society offering interest-free loans to federal employees who have been furloughed or are working without pay
For families who survive paycheck to paycheck, more than a month without pay can quickly lead to financial crisis. That's the painful reality for some of the 18,000 federal employees in New York City, and those in the surrounding area, who have been furloughed or are working without pay.
To ease their burden, UJA has allocated $5 million to support an interest-free "paycheck" program. Run by the Hebrew Free Loan Society, the program is intended for federal employees who live in New York City or Westchester, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties and make no more than $40,000.
Help UJA spread the word. Please share this information with friends and family who might qualify for the loan program, so people get the help they need.
