At 11 a.m., Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez will join Public Advocate Bill de Blasio, the New York State Nurses Association, 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East and other local community groups and leaders at a demonstration in front of 339 Hicks Street at Atlantic Avenue to opposed the closure of Long Island College Hospital.
De Blasio recently engaged in litigation to save the troubled hospital, and last week put forward a plan for a "Brooklyn Health Authority to protect community-level healthcare."
