WATCH: Truck Fire Snarls Traffic On BQE
Firefighters battled a truck fire on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway on Monday afternoon, FDNY officials said

CARROLL GARDENS, BROOKLYN — A truck that caught fire on the Brooklyn Queens Expressway was the second vehicle fire to snarl traffic on a major highway in the city on Monday morning.
Firefighters were sent around 11:13 a.m. to the blaze, which broke out between Atlantic Avenue and Rapelye Street. The fire had been put out by about 12:40 p.m., officials said, but crews were still on the scene. No injuries were reported.
Eastbound lanes approaching the Brooklyn Bridge were closed as crews battled the fire, but were reopen around 12:24 p.m., according to the city's emergency management.

Another car fire had broken out on FDR drive, near East 96th Street, just a few hours earlier. FDNY officials shut down northbound lanes until after 8 a.m. for the fire, which started around 7:40 a.m.
No injuries were reported from that fire, either, officials said.
