Driver Seriously Hurt In East Moriches Crash: Police
The 18-year-old, who was airlifted with serious injuries after the crash, hit a utility pole, trees, a large rock, and bushes, police say.
EAST MORICHES, NY — An East Moriches teen was seriously hurt in a crash Thursday night, police said.
According to Suffolk County Police, the single-vehicle crash took place on Chapman Boulevard in East Moriches at 10:55 p.m. Joshua Cunniff, 18, was driving a 2003 Ford Expedition westbound when the vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a utility pole, then veered onto the shoulder and struck trees, a large rock, and bushes before coming to a stop on the front lawn of a Chapman Blvd. home, police said.
East Moriches Fire Department heavy rescue extracted him from the vehicle, and advanced life support was provided at the scene by East Moriches Community Ambulance and a SCPD MedCAT officer, police said.

Cunniff was airlifted by the Suffolk County Police Department’s aviation unit to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, police said.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check, police said.
