Firefighters Bid Sad Farewell To Longtime Friend, Volunteer
Funeral services for James Henderson, a 33-year member and ex-chief, have been announced.
MORICHES, NY — Members of East Moriches Hook and Ladder Co. #1 were heartbroken this week to say good-bye to a friend.
"It is with deep sadness and regret we announce the passing of 33-year member and ex Captain James Henderson," a Facebook post from the East Moriches Fire Department said. "There isn’t anyone in Brookhaven, Southampton or Riverhead Towns' Fire Police that hasn’t heard of Jimmy. He was truly a gentleman and will be extremely missed in the morning coffee club, at every alarm and at every Playboy event. Rest in peace, Jimmy, and peace, my brother. We love you!"
Services for James Henderson will be held at the Wesche Funeral Home, located at 495 Main Street in Center Moriches, on Sunday, Aug. 5, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Firematic services will be held on Sunday, Aug. 5 at 7:30 p.m. Religious services to follow.
A private burial service will be held on Monday, Aug. 6.
