Freeze Warning Issued For Suffolk County

A freeze warning has been issued for Suffolk County for overnight Friday into Halloween morning.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the mid-20s and that could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing, the National Weather Service says.

To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes, they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those with in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.

A coastal flood advisory will also be in effect for all of South Shore Suffolk as well as the North Fork from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday as the remnants of Hurricane Zeta continue to soak the island. Brief minor flooding of the more vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline is possible.

Friday- Rain, mainly before 2pm. High near 44. Breezy, with a north wind 17 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday Night- Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 32. North wind around 8 mph.

Saturday- Sunny, with a high near 49. North wind 5 to 9 mph becoming east in the afternoon.

Saturday Night- A 20 percent chance of light rain after 2am. Partly cloudy, with a temperature falling to near 42 by 8pm, then rising to around 47 during the remainder of the night. Southeast wind 3 to 6 mph.

Sunday- A 30 percent chance of rain after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 60.

Sunday Night- Rain likely before 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Monday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 47. Windy.

Monday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 33.
