Father, Husband Needs Help After Losing Leg In Accident

CENTER MORICHES, NY —A local woman whose husband lost his leg following an accident is reaching out for help.

A GoFundMe page, "Help Zef Get A New Leg" was created by Kristina Gjinaj of Center Moriches.

Her husband Zef has had multiple major surgeries to try and save his leg, she said.

"Unfortunately, the battle to save his leg has come to an end, resulting in an amputation," Gjinaj said.

Due to his age, he is expected to make a full recovery but he will need a prosthetic leg after the surgery and extensive rehabilitation, Gjinaj explained.

"Insurance will only cover so much," she said. "So we are asking our friends and families for donations to help Zef get his new prosthetic leg. Whoever knows Zef, knows he has a huge heart for his children and his family."

Her husband, she added, loves hiking and being adventurous.

"We are hoping to get him the best of the best for him — so that he is able to run after his kids again, and to hike mountains. We are hoping for his future to be bright and successful — and with the help of our loved ones we are confident that Zef will be back to his usual self, with his new leg and the treatment he needs."
