School Bus Bursts Into Flames As Horrified Parents Watch
It was a dramatic moment as the bus erupted in fierce flames; thankfully, no students were onboard the bus yet.

CENTER MORICHES, NY — It was a terrifying afternoon outside the William Floyd Middle School Wednesday as a school bus burst into flames right before dismissal.
Suffolk County Police said they responded to a bus fire on Moriches Middle Island Road in Moriches on at 2:10 p.m. According to the Center Moriches Fire Department, firefighters arrived and found the bus fully engulfed in flames.
There were no students on the bus at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported, fire officials said.

It took firefighters 15 minutes to bring the fire under control; the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brookhaven Town Fire Marshal’s Office, the fire department said.

According to the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office, Suffolk County correction officers teaching the Gang Resistance Education Program at William Floyd Middle School were first on the scene of the blaze. Correction Officers Christopher Delaney and Arce were at the school teaching when the bus caught fire before students were dismissed. They secured the scene and directed traffic as more buses and parents arrived to pick up students at the end of the day, a release said.
