Teacher Abuses Teen At His Moriches Home: Cops

The chorus teacher abused the 16-year old at his Moriches home, police say.

MORICHES, NY — A high school teacher has been charged with sexually abusing a teenage boy at his Moriches home, police said.

Suffolk County Police have arrested Hauppauge High School teacher Mark Kimes, 53, of Long Tree Lane, for sexually abusing a teenage boy, authorities said.

The now-18-year-old male reported to detectives that when he was a 16-year-old student at Hauppauge High School, located on Lincoln Boulevard, he was sexually abused by his chorus teacher, Kimes, at the teacher’s home in Moriches, police said. Following an investigation, Seventh Squad detectives determined Kimes had inappropriate contact with the teen while serving as his teacher, police said.

Kimes was arrested at his home at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday and charged with first degree criminal sex act and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, police said.

He was held overnight at the Seventh Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday, police said..
