William Floyd School District Student Tests Positive For COVID-19
Both William Floyd Middle School and Nathaniel Woodhull Elementary School will move to all virtual learning for Tuesday.

MORICHES, NY — A student at the William Floyd Middle School in Moriches has tested positive for the coronavirus, district officials said Monday.
According to a message on the William Floyd School District's Facebook page Monday night, the district learned Monday evening that the student had tested positive.
The Suffolk County Department of Health has contacted the student’s family and will begin contact tracing immediately, the district said.

Additionally, the student has a sibling that attends Nathaniel Woodhull Elementary School in Shirley that has not tested positive for COVID-19 at the present time, the district said.
"As a result and out of an abundance of caution, both William Floyd Middle School and Nathaniel Woodhull Elementary School will move to all virtual learning for Tuesday, September 22," the district said. "All other buildings will remain open to in-person learning."

And, the district added: "Since, Wednesday, September 23 remains a regularly scheduled all-virtual learning day, this will provide two full days for a thorough cleansing and disinfecting of these buildings (which also happens each night). We will continue to work collaboratively with the Suffolk County Department of Health and keep you updated and informed every step of the way."
