This year, add to your to-do list with the 5 events and activities highlighted below! By the way...they're all free!
1. Shakespeare In the Park -- Mark your calendars! Starting May 29th and running through August 19th, Shakespeare In The Park is exactly what it sounds like. It is held at the Delacorte Theatre (closest to the 81st street A and C subway stops). The catch here is that free tickets are given on a first come, first serve basis, so be ready to wait in line before tickets are handed out at 12pm the day of! No matter how long the wait, it is well worth it.
2. Off-Leash Dog Walking -- Everyday before 9am, dog owners are allowed to walk their dog off-leash. This is one of those "if you know, you know" type of things. This is in effect all year but arguably the best during the warmer months. Now that you're aware, catch some early morning Spring sun-rays in Central Park with your best friend!

3. Community Softball -- Have you ever been on a leisure walk through Central Park and notice teams playing softball and say to yourself..."I want in!" Well it's a lot easier than it may seem to start playing. The most popular time for Softball is on a sunny Sunday around 11am. Grab your glove, throw on a pair of cleats and walk up to any team and ask to join, for the day or even for the season. Usually if you join for the day, teams are willing to allow you to play free of charge. If you want in on the season, that might run you some $$.
4. The Central Park Rambles -- If you've never walked through the Rambles in Central Park, you're missing out! Located closest to the 72nd and 5th ave entrance, the Rambles are really a hidden treasure. Filled with dirt paths and waterfalls, a visit to the Rambles will make you feel like you're upstate on a hike, you'll forget you're still in Manhattan!
