Central Park Jogger Attacked, Police Say

A man was running through Central Park at night when he was assaulted.

CENTRAL PARK, NY —A man was attacked while jogging through Central Park, police said.

The victim was running near East 64th Street and Center Drive around 10:30 Monday night when he was approached by two unknown men, police said. One of the men struck the runner in the leg, forcing him to stop, and then struck the runner in the forehead, police said.

The two attackers fled the scene on foot without robbing the runner, police said. Motivation for the attack is currently unknown.

The runner was hospitalized at New York Presbyterian Hospital and treated for his injuries, police said.

Police could not provide identifying information about the two suspects and said there have been no arrests made in the case. An NYPD investigation into the assault is ongoing.
