Central Park Pool Death Deemed Homicide, Police Say
Investigators believe that a man who was found dead near Central Park's Lasker Pool was murdered.
CENTRAL PARK, NY — Investigators have deemed the death of a man who was found suffering head injuries near Central Park's public pool a homicide, police announced Wednesday.
The man, who has not been identified, was found shortly after 10:30 a.m. near Lasker Pool and East 106th Street in the northeast corner of Central Park, police said. EMS pronounced him dead on the scene, said police.
Officers were called to the pool after camp counselors who arrived at the facility Tuesday morning for work discovered the man's body, police said. Investigators believe the victim may have been homeless.

No suspects have been identified and the NYPD investigation remains ongoing, police said. The city medical examiner will conduct an autopsy and rule on the man's official cause of death.
Lasker Pool remained open Tuesday despite the nearby crime scene. The pool is open to the public daily during the summer from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to the Parks Department.
