Driver Hits NYPD Horse Near Central Park, Police Say
NYPD horse Otis and his officer made it out of the collision without suffering injuries.

CENTRAL PARK, NY — An NYPD mounted officer and their steed were hit by a car near Central Park, but made it out of the collision without injuries, police said.
NYPD horse "Otis" is getting a five-day break from work after being struck by a distracted driver on Thursday, NYPD special operations tweeted. Police shared a photo of the stallion relaxing in his stable and looking healthy.
"As a precaution Otis received a veterinarian exam including X-rays & will remain inside for 5 days to ensure he is healthy," NYPD special ops tweeted.

Police did not say where the collision occurred or what penalties the driver will face. Private cars have been banned from Central Park since June 2018.
